Recently Qualified Teachers (RQT)

What is the purpose?
This programme has been designed to ensure progression and succession within school teaching staff. Outstanding leadership is the main driver in school improvement and therefore the focus will be on the development of leadership skills throughout the programme and building the capacity to coach others. The course will start with classroom practice and progress to emphasise development outside the classroom and sustain the skills set for the future.

This course is for teachers in their second or third year of teaching. It will build on the skills and experiences of the early years of teaching and encourage teachers to develop their role beyond the classroom.

  • Preparation for leadership roles in schools
  • Development of coaching skills
  • Opportunity to share, reflect and plan for progression

Programme content
