Welcome to the Darrick Teaching School Alliance

Darrick Wood School has been selected for an important new role aimed at further raising standards and was granted Teaching School status by the National College for Teaching and Leadership in March 2013. This status entitles the School to lead the training and professional development for staff across a wider area.

The Teaching Schools initiative began in 2011, marking a shift towards school-centred training and development. The programme gives outstanding schools the freedom and autonomy to lead a group of schools, working with other partners to deliver high quality support for teachers and leaders at all stages in their career.

This award recognises the important work that exists at Darrick Wood School in training teachers, running an induction programme for NQTs and offering CPD to our own staff and to staff from other schools. Through the status we have extended the range of our courses to meet the demands of the local area and our partner schools.
